A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. There are two types of dentures available — complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing or removed, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth are preserved and remain in the mouth.
What are the steps involved to get dentures at Shunga Family Dental Care?
It’s simple, you contact the Shunga dental office and schedule an appointment. At your appointment, you will receive a dental examination and we will discuss potential treatment options, scheduling options and costs associated with dentures. Treatment options may include one of the following:
- A conventional denture is made after all teeth have been extracted and the tissues (gums) have healed. You may receive temporary dentures for public appearance’s sake until your conventional denture is made and healing has finished.
- An immediate denture is fabricated and inserted immediately after the teeth are extracted and allow the gum tissues to heal under the denture.
Schedule regular check-ups
Even with dentures, regular dental check-ups are advised and dentures will need to be professionally cleaned. Our dentists can help you in making sure your denture is fitting correctly, so to avoid slippage and discomfort. As with any dental check-up, Dr. Caracoioni will also examine the inside of your mouth to make sure everything is healthy.
If dentures are something you are considering, and wish to speak to us, contact Shunga Family Dental Care in Topeka for more information on which denture option is right for you.
